I’m
writing this today on the beginning of Summer Solstice with sunshine on the
horizon and what will be the longest day of the year. I don’t know about
you, but it’s inspired me to put on my rose-colored glasses and see things from
a different point of view.

Sometimes
we all need to take a break from the world’s troubles and our own troubles to
see things from a more cheerful and positive viewpoint...as they say, through
rose-colored glasses. Or, “happy glasses” as my mom would
say.
There’s a reason the
world has happy meals, happy hours and, yes, even happy glasses.
Isn’t
it important to find balance and moderation with everything in life...the good
and bad? When things start to get stressful, dreadful or pitiful then it’s time
to put on your rose-colored glasses
and change your perception.
At
the same time, we can’t live completely behind rose-colored glasses. Avoidance might be what’s causing the stress
in the first place.
“If one oversteps the
bounds of moderation, the greatest pleasures cease to please.” ~Epictetus,
Greek Philosopher
Today
would be a great time to adjust your balancing act with the official start to the
summer season.
For
me, I love to ride my bike and discover the amazing things you see when you
take the time to look. Riding the trails and roads with the breeze on my face
is an elixir of serenity, energy and venturing.
It's my happy place.
Here are a few of things I see from the bike path.
What
is your happy place? Do you need to do more of it?
With
that said, I have many plans this summer. I’ll be attending a writing workshop
to sharpen my creative writing and I'll try to seek out other literary events. I plan on going to a few summer concerts to feed my soul with
rhythm. I’ll be visiting some local attractions, eating at new places, checking
out vineyards and doing some wine tasting.
Of
course, must squeeze in some wine and chocolate while wearing my happy
glasses!
Although,
I’ll be taking a summer break from my blog writing, I plan to keep challenging
myself with some creative non-fiction and short fiction writing during my down
time.
Another
option, if you’re on Instagram, click here and follow along
this summer as I post pictures, inspirational or humorous messages as I see
them from the bike path. See more pictures/videos posted by searching #seeingthingsfromthebikepath
In addition, I’ll
be sharing on my Facebook page. Find it here and
like my page. Hopefully, you’ll see updates as I post them.

Thank
you again to all who are here and take the time to read my stories and blog
articles. I try to write from personal insight, which is infused with a
creative twist of humor and inspiration.
I
hope you stay connected and enjoy your summer while wearing rose-colored glasses. Make sure you find
ways to make your days ROSEY. 😎
I’ll
be back the end of September, with any luck, sharing exciting new stories.
