What's Cooking At The Red Barn?

It's true about the phrase, "If you build it, they will come!"  I know the actual quote is “HE will come.”  However, in this case, more than one WILL come.

I believe the secret is out and it's down a country road lined with cornfields and plush rolling hills on the outskirts of Northfield, MN.

One Pot Pasta With Shrimp and Asparagus

Summer is a great time for a quick and easy light salad.  The fresh asparagus and the citrus tang give this salad a bright flavor. Its simplicity will surprise you on how tasty it is.

I make this salad for lunch and enjoy it along with a few whole grain crackers and some slices of white cheddar cheese.

Not to mention, how can you not like something that can all be thrown together and cooked in ONE pan and then tossed in ONE bowl!

Why You Should Enjoy Being Alone: My Adventure to Minnehaha Falls

I took a day off with nothing in particular in mind to do, but to enjoy some "me time" after a Fourth of July weekend. I wasn't sure what I was going to do, but knew I didn't want to clean, do laundry, run household errands or stare lovingly at the leftover Patriotic Trifle in the fridge! 

No sirree, I didn't want to hang out at home and, out of boredom, end up doing all of the above anyway along with licking the trifle bowl spotless. I needed to get a different view from the norm and recharge with a little nature walk.

Usually, I venture to different spots, restaurants or happenings with Mister O, my kids or girlfriends. I don't normally explore a different destination by myself. However, in this last year, I’ve discovered that I need to do more of it and so I have. 

For instance, I had never before gone to a movie theater to watch a movie by myself. It's just something I had never considered doing. I have a couple of good friends that do this all the time and it made me think...yeah, why the heck not! It's one way to actually see the movie YOU want to see and you don't have to share the popcorn!

Feel Like Crying In the Fitting Room? Bring Frederick!

If you've never been pissed off in a clothing fitting room and you've never worked up a sweat-drenched frenzy just getting things tucked in and sucked in, then hells bells...how lucky for you! 

You must be resistant to fitting room dilemmas or you're one of those that has an ideal size and it just freaking works perfectly for you! Well, right now I'm not waving all five fingers to that nonsense!

I'll admit there are some clothes shopping days that can go on record as being pretty successful. I try to remember those instances of feeling on cloud nine and everything you took into the dressing room actually fit and graced over the bumps and curves with ease. Praise to the heavens, the only dilemma you have is deciding which item to buy.  

How often does that happen? Once in a blue moon...am I right? So, why choose? Hell, let's bag it all up Frederick and end the day with a Cinnabon!
