Would you like to ring in the New Year at New York's Times Square this New Years Eve?
Sounds like fun, but not without ringing up a $1799 dinner tab for two at Ruby Tuesday's!!
According to this article from CNBC you can celebrate where the action really kicks off, but for a price. New Years Eve dinner packages in Times Square start at $349 and go up from there.
Olive Garden is charging $400 per person and that doesn't even include the breadsticks! WTH!

Could I just get a bag of breadsticks to go? Wonder how much "dough" that would cost me?
Can't afford to eat out...no worries, you can still watch the Ball Drop in Times Square for FREE. However, you'll need to claim your standing spot about 12 hours before the big event.
Ever since I first started watching Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve in my youth, I've always dreamed of being in New York for the Ball Drop.
I guess, I'll keep dreaming and hope I can stay awake long enough to see the Ball Drop the cheapest way ~ from my living room.
Oh and I'll make my own breadsticks!
Happy New Year Friends!
Until next month's edition, expect the unexpected!
I live 30 minutes from Manhattan and you couldn't pay me to go in for New Year's Eve. Even on a good day I'd never be at Olive Garden or the like! Thanks for the good laugh and I wish you a very Happy New Year!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cathy! That's saying a lot if you're only 30 minutes away and you'd still avoid it. It always looks so glamorous and fun on TV, but the reality is that it's an expensive and probably irritating party. Thanks for sharing your two cents. Happy New Year!
DeleteYikes! Makes me feel better about spending a few extra dollars on a couple of good steaks for our dinner on New Year's Eve...which I ate in my fancy flannel pajamas while sitting on my living room floor!!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!!
Thanks Laura, sounds like a perfect way to start the new year! Warm and cozy too.
